Check the Wi-Fi before you buy a coffee
A café can look perfect and still have Wi-Fi that drops every ten minutes. Before you settle in, look for a posted network name and password, or ask at the counter. If the café lists its Wi-Fi on its Google profile or website, that's a good sign it's meant to be used.
On BestSeat, every spot's Wi-Fi detail links to the source it came from — a review, the venue's own page, or a directory — so you can check the claim yourself before you go.
Count the outlets, not the tables
A room full of tables doesn't help if the only outlet is behind the counter. Look for photos showing wall outlets or power strips along the seating, and check reviews for words like "outlets", "plugs" or "charging".
When nobody has published anything about a spot's outlets, we say so plainly — "Not verified yet" — rather than guessing. A missing answer is more useful than an invented one.
Noise is the hardest thing to predict
A café that's calm at 9am can be loud at noon. Reviews that mention "quiet", "easy to focus" or "good for studying" are worth more than star ratings for this. Libraries are the safer bet when you need guaranteed quiet — they're built for it.
Hours decide whether it's a work spot or a tease
A place that closes at 2pm only works for mornings. Check the posted weekly hours, not just today's — some cafés close early on weekends or one weekday. Every spot on BestSeat shows its posted hours, and the "Open now" label is computed from them, so open means open.
Putting it together
We combine these four things — Wi-Fi, power, noise and hours — into a single laptop score from 0 to 100 for every spot we list. It's not a star rating and it's not sponsored; it's just the facts we could find, each with its source. Browse the spots near you and see how your favorite café scores.
